CSA Program 2024
Thank you for your interest in our CSA program. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. We are really excited about this way of offering our vegetables to people. Brian has been growing vegetables on our farm for the past 42 years-so the growing side we know! The veggies are grown in greenhouses and in the fields and we partner with other local farmers for the things we do not grow.
New this season we will be offering a monthly meat share and a flower share. Look for more details on our social media pages.

Why would I participate in a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program?
Being a part of a CSA program is a great way to eat fresh, seasonal food. It allows you to know where your food comes from and as such supports your local farmers. The produce contained within the box is hand picked daily and fresh.
What are the 3 CSA share sizes available?
We offer a family, half and personal share bin. Each have 7-12 different items in each share per week: a family share would be good for an average family of 4-5 people or a veggie loving couple and the half/mid share quantity of vegetables suits 2-3 people and the personal size is good for single person or a couple or if you have young children who do not consume a lot of vegetables.
If you start with one size and as the season progresses it is either too much or too little, there is no problem to change the size of bin you receive.
As we progress through the 21 weeks, and get into a full summer growing season and in the Fall, there will be more items in the share than in the Spring. Each week will contain a variety of known and maybe some, new to you, fresh vegetables and fruits. We include a fruit every week. As a member you will receive a weekly newsletter that includes recipes for the produce.
Below is a sample of what could be available throughout the season.
Starting in the Spring: asparagus, peas, green onions, radishes, English cucumbers, tomatoes, rhubarb.
During the summer: beans, beets, carrots, beefsteak heritage tomatoes and yellow and red cherry tomatoes, green onions, romaine lettuce, spanish onions, sweet corn, potatoes, English cucumbers, garlic, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini. Fruits available are: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apples, plums, peaches, nectarines, pears, watermelon, and cantaloupe
Including the vegetables listed above the Fall also brings: root crops, cabbages, brussel sprouts, turnips, kale, leeks, celery, cooking onions, parsnips, winter squash and pumpkins.
Even though this is an extensive list- items may still be added as the season progresses-it all depends on the growing conditions. We strive to give you the best quality vegetables and fruits possible. We also partner with other local farmers to increase the variety of items added to the weekly bins.
Can I pick which items I receive?
Sorry, no. Round The Bend Farm is a working farm. We grow everything in its season and pick it at its best. The share is a balanced mix of what the farm has available in the fields on that particular week. We hope you will enjoy getting surprised each week, and enjoy trying things you might otherwise not have tried.
If you have an allergy to a particular vegetable or fruit, please let us know and it will not be placed in your box.
How will I know what to expect in the boxes each week?
When you join our CSA program I add you to our Mail Chimp newsletter list. A newsletter is sent out every Monday outlining what is in the bin, giving you recipe ideas and telling a little of what is happening on the farm.
Where is the produce grown for the CSA program?
The produce for our CSA Program is grown at Round The Bend Farm and we partner with other farmers that share our farming (methodology) practices.
For example: We have farm friends in the Niagara Region that grow wonderful fruits for us.

If you give us a call, we fill out a form for you and payment can be made by credit card over the phone.
You can email the registration form, or drop it by the farm.
How do I pay for my CSA Share?
To help us, as farmers, this is a pre-paid program where you can pay for the entire season up front upon registration and take a 5% discount of the total purchase value, or pay the first half of the season upon registration and the remainder of the season’s payment is due by July 29th.
Payment can be made at the farm (or over the phone) with Visa or Mastercard.
Debit payments can be made at the farm. Payment can be made through et-transfers to sue.rtbf@gmail.com , we have auto deposit but if a password is required on your end we use the word: vegetables
We also accept cash or cheques payable to “Round The Bend Farm.”
What happens if we go on vacation or need a break?
Yes, we are flexible with vacation times. If you’re planning a vacation or would like a break and do not require your food share, tell us at least 7 days(earlier is better) in advance to when your vacation starts . Then a bin will not be made in your name. If advance notice is given, a farm credit will be issued for the bin amount.
Allowable Vacation Weeks: if not calculated at registration, up to 4 weeks vacation allowable in the 21 week season.
If you know your vacation time at registration, the math will be done only on the weeks that you receive the bin. You will not be billed for vacation time that is booked off at the time of registration. If you miss a week or do not give proper notice you will be billed for that week. This works even if you do not know when you will be away when you register.
Please arrange an alternate person (ie: friend/family) to pick up that weeks produce. At your discretion they can purchase that weeks produce off you or you can gift it to them. Or, on your behalf, we can donate it to a local family in need.
We also accept cash or cheques payable to Round The Bend Farm”.
What if I can no longer receive my CSA Share?
CSA shares are non-refundable. We purchase seed, plant crops, tend fields, irrigate and weed until crops are harvested, all based on our CSA share needs. Each person is counted on to take their share of the harvest.
If you need a break we suggest you give your box to a neighbour or friend or have us deliver it to the nearest food bank.
In special life circumstances a refund will be issued, less an administration fee. Contact sue.rtbf@gmail.com .
Yes! At Round The Bend Farm we welcome visitors. Starting the Mother’s Day Saturday we are open Tuesday to Saturday.
